Changes starting October 2011

Alright, everybody, it's been a while since we left off at changing the Penguin of the Month system. Here's what I think should change starting October.

  1. Remove the against. There really isn't any reason to vote against someone besides dropping their chances of winning. And if you don't want that user to win, simply don't vote, and vote for another user instead.
  2. One nomination per user. Nominate the user that you think deserves to win. It doesn't make any sense to nominate more than one user that you think should win when you can only vote for one user.
  3. No new nominations may be added after the 20th of a month. There's too little time for a fair nomination. Not the entire community may notice the change in time, or have too little time to decide (if they're going to change their mind).

Feel free to discuss along and add your own opinion. --LordMaster96 19:09, 30 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

    • LordMaster96, I agree with all of your ideas, except for only one nomination per month. If we think more than one person deserves it, then that is OK. It could add a little bit of competition

Final changes

Everybody except Tigernose agrees, so I'm going to keep everything but make it a little bit flexible for TN. I've also talked about the changes over with Seahorse, and I've been given the green light to change it up.

  1. Each user may nominate up to two users a month.
  2. Remove against. Users with a lack of votes will not win (admin discussion will make final decision).
    1. Unpopular nominations (like someone who does not deserve to be nominated in the first place) may be removed per the community's consent.
  3. No new nominations may be added after the 25th of a month. With the POTM ending on the last day of a month (instead of the 29th of a month).

Any last minute comments before they go into effect in two days? --LordMaster96 04:27, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Changes

All changes in effect. Change #2 will be a test for this month to see how it goes. It probably will not stay though. --LordMaster96 00:52, 30 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why close?

You might as well just close the PotM forever if you close it down again, because it technically wasn't even open the past few months that it was supposed to be (the PotM section wasn't on the main page, so it appears closed because people forget about it and don't nominate anyone). Honestly though, the PotM has been ignored for a while now, along with most of the wiki's non-editing projects. Cp kid Wanna Talk? 22:31, 23 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Why close? Because we decided on that in a previous council meeting. I've left a message on the sitenotice for 1 month when it reopened in May/June and nobody nominated anyone. If nobody wants to nominate, that's out of my reach to fix. Surely having it on the mainpage rings a bell every now and then despite it looking ugly, but won't be any more effective than having it on the sitenotice for an entire month. --LordMaster96 05:05, 24 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
